About this tour

Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca or the Mountain of Seven Colors, is a breathtaking geological wonder located in the heart of the Andes of Peru. Situated at an altitude of over 5,000 meters above sea level in the Cusco region, it offers one of the most stunning landscapes in the world. What makes Rainbow Mountain so remarkable is its vibrant and diverse coloration, caused by the rich mineral deposits in the area, including iron oxide, copper sulfate, and sulfur. These minerals, exposed over centuries due to glacial melting and erosion, create a surreal natural canvas of vivid colors—ranging from deep reds and bright oranges to lush greens and brilliant blues.

Just beyond Rainbow Mountain lies another hidden gem, the Red Valley (Valle Rojo). This striking landscape, with its deep red earth, offers a dramatic contrast to the multicolored hues of Rainbow Mountain. The Red Valley is less visited, making it a more tranquil and off-the-beaten-path destination for travelers who seek to experience the untouched beauty of the Andes. The valley’s red tones are the result of the high concentration of iron oxide in the soil, and the vast, unspoiled terrain is perfect for those looking to extend their adventure beyond Rainbow Mountain.

The trek to both Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley is challenging due to the high altitude, but the awe-inspiring views make it a popular destination for adventurous travelers and nature enthusiasts alike. For a seamless experience, consider booking with INKANET ADVENTURE, which provides expert guides and well-organized tours, ensuring that you can fully immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage of the region.
