Early in the morning, around 7:30 AM, we will pick you up from your hotel in Puno to begin our journey to Lake Titicaca, one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. We’ll board a boat and head to the Uros Floating Islands, a unique community of man-made islands constructed from totora reeds. Here, you’ll meet the Uros people, learn about their traditional way of life, and explore their vibrant culture through a guided visit (approximately 1.5 hours). You’ll have the chance to interact with the locals and even take an optional ride on a traditional reed boat.
Afterward, we’ll continue our boat journey (about 2.5 hours) to Amantani Island, known for its serene beauty and rich Inca heritage. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by local host families who will share their homes and customs with you. After a traditional lunch prepared by your host family, we’ll hike (about 1 hour) to the island’s sacred Pachatata or Pachamama temples, offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and a magical sunset. In the evening, enjoy a cultural exchange with the locals, including a traditional dinner and an optional folkloric dance event, where you can dress in local attire. Overnight stay with your host family on Amantani Island.
After a hearty breakfast with your host family (around 7:00 AM), we’ll say goodbye to Amantani Island and take a boat (about 1 hour) to Taquile Island, a UNESCO-recognized site famous for its textile art and traditional lifestyle. Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a gentle hike (about 1 hour) through the island’s scenic paths, passing by terraced fields and ancient Inca ruins. Your guide will share insights into the island’s unique cultural traditions, including the world-renowned Taquile textiles, crafted by the island’s skilled artisans.
We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring fresh Titicaca trout and other regional dishes, with breathtaking lake views. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to explore the island’s market or relax by the shore. In the early afternoon (around 2:00 PM), we’ll board the boat for the return journey to Puno (approximately 3 hours). Upon arrival in Puno (around 5:00 PM), we’ll provide transfers back to your hotel, concluding our cultural adventure.
