The Inca Trail stands as one of the world’s premier trekking experiences, known for its stunning landscapes and ancient ruins culminating in Machu Picchu. Due to its popularity, securing your spot on the Inca Trail requires advanced planning. Availability is limited, influenced by seasonal factors, group size, and Peruvian government regulations.
Each year, only 500 trekking permits are issued daily for the Inca Trail, including permits for support staff like porters, cooks, and guides. Therefore, early booking is crucial to secure your place. As demand fluctuates and logistics need careful consideration, it’s advisable to secure your Inca Trail permit well ahead of your intended travel date.
The optimal time to embark on the Inca Trail is during the dry season from May to September. This period also coincides with peak visitor numbers, underscoring the importance of early reservations to ensure availability and a seamless experience.

Our Inca Trail Itinerary
Below is a detailed outline of our Inca Trail journey, focusing on the hiking days:
Day 1: Begin from Ollantaytambo in the morning, reaching km. 82 and ascending to the campground.
Day 2: Start early, trekking through the cloud forest, ascending to Dead Woman’s Pass, and descending afterward.
Day 3: Rise early to hike through the most picturesque section of the trail.
Day 4: Depart in the early morning (3 a.m.) to reach the entry checkpoint, then hike for 1-2 hours to the Sun Gate and Machu Picchu.
The Inca Trail is an ancient network of roads constructed by the Inca civilization that connected various regions of the Inca Empire. The most popular and well-traveled segment is the one leading to Machu Picchu, starting from the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
There are several routes to reach Machu Picchu, with the most well-known being:
Please be aware that Peru requires passports to be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay. If your passport expires within this timeframe from your planned entry date to Peru, you must renew it before your trip. Entry to Peru may be denied if this requirement is not met.
If you’re booking your trek with us and your passport falls within this category, you can still secure your Inca Trail permits and Machu Picchu tickets through us. However, please ensure to update your passport details with us before your journey to Peru. Failure to do so could result in the forfeiture of your reserved permits and tickets.

VerifiedEmily2023-07-25Great value! Ruben was super communicative, so pick up morning of was really easy. He also told great stories on the hike up! Overall, really incredible value with roundtrip transport + two meals (restaurant and their staff were wonderful--capped off the day with pisco sours on the house).VerifiedLeon2023-04-27Fue una experiencia única mucho más hermoso de lo que habría esperado y aun hay más por ver. Siempre estuvieron pendientes de nosotros y de como.nos sentíamos muy pacientes.VerifiedNicole2023-04-07We went with Victor who is super nice and thoughtful. The rainbow mountain is impressive and definitely worth your time. I also like the food provided during the trip, the chef and his crew was super nice. Make sure you eat a lot of protein for the breakfast so that you have energy for the hiking. Of course, the hiking part is hard, you can pay extra to ride the horse (make sure you have cash). I hiked up by myself and enjoyed horse riding on my way down (uphill costs 60 soles and downhill costs 40 soles) . On our way back, we had pisco sour after our lunch, we paid our tribute and respect to pacha mama, that was a peaceful and mindful moment for me. We would definitely recommend this trip if you are coming to Cusco.VerifiedAyano2022-12-22It was a great experience! Breakfast and lunch was really good. I took a horse and that was a right decision! I highly recommend to ride on a horse. You can save time and energy.VerifiedLola2022-11-19We had a great time during this tour! The view was amazing. The guide was very thoughtful and insisted carrying my bag for me when I was tired. The breakfast and lunch included were very nice too and very clean restaurant. There were some accident at the Lima airport so some flights were cancelled. We were very about our upcoming flight tomorrow, and the tour guide was kind enough to take us to the airport on the way back to ask more about the situation. Thank you so much Ruben for organizing everything!VerifiedJohn2022-11-17The van and driver were solid. The guide did well to also share tour info in English. The breakfast and lunch were also really good.VerifiedEric2022-10-15What a great day. The weather was awesome. The tour was very well organized. Got to visit both Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley. Lots of great pictures and memories. Thankyou.
